About

Born in Portugal in 1975, since childhood I was fascinated by the world of images. I started as a mere spectator of the family albums, in hours of complete fascination. I liked to handle the photographs. To point out the negatives to the light. To smell them. To know that my grandfather had practiced portrait photography and recorded video scenes of the family since the 40s. Generally speaking I liked this whole world of photography. After a few years, it was no longer sufficient to be in merely contemplation and at an early age, I started shooting with disposable cameras. Joining my images to the family albums’.

With an instinct for observing very pronounced, early on I became interested in my surroundings. I always liked to just sit back and observe. Already in adulthood I began to use photography to capture not only the way I observe the world, but mainly to express my feelings, dreams and fears. As a method of catharsis of my moods. That is why I dedicated myself to the lo-fi photography. The one that best expresses my inner world, the images I see in dreams, my deepest self.

During the year 2011 I joined the collective of photographers THE PORTFOLIO PROJECT. "Thinking photography differently" is the philosophy of the collective, which has followed my artistic residencies, public presentations and exhibitions.
